IndiGo orders 30 Airbus A350-900 aircraft: The country’s largest airline IndiGo has ordered 30 wide-body A350-900 aircraft from aircraft manufacturer Airbus. The company has the option to buy 70 more such aircraft. IndiGo, which has been active in the aviation business in India for about 17 years, currently has a fleet of 350 narrowbody aircraft. However, the company has leased two Boeing 777 aircraft from Turkish Airlines for flights from Delhi and Mumbai to Istanbul.

IndiGo orders widebody aircraft

IndiGo said in a statement that after ordering 30 A350-900 aircraft, it will also join the airline comp.es flying wide-body aircraft.

After the arrival of 30 A350-900 aircraft in IndiGo’s fleet, the airline will be successful in connecting major cities of India with major cities around the world. These aircraft are powered by Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines, which provide the aircraft with unparalleled mission capability and efficiency. At the same time, Indigo will strengthen its fleet by ordering wide body aircraft.

Delivery will be available in 2027

IndiGo said that deliveries of these 30 A350-900 will begin from 2027. Additionally, IndiGo has the right to purchase 70 Airbus A350 family aircraft in this order, which provides it further flexibility. However, the exact configuration of the planes will be determined later.

Only these airlines have widebody aircraft

Currently, Air India is the only Indian company to operate the A350. Among domestic airlines, Air India and Vistara currently have widebody aircraft in their fleet, while SpiceJet has leased some widebody aircraft. IndiGo had ordered 500 aircraft from Airbus in June last year. This was the largest order placed by an airline at one time.
