When we think of watermelon, we usually imagine a large fruit that looks green on the outside. It looks red when you cut it. But have you seen watermelons that are yellow on the inside? This yellow watermelon is called the “king of sweets” and is even sweeter than red watermelon. It actually proves to be very beneficial for our health.

You will find yellow colored watermelon in Theni district of Tamil Nadu. Watermelon gumam in Theni district is sold in Chinnamanur, Cuddalore and many other areas of the district. As soon as summer arrives, vendors selling watermelons set up shops on the roadside. The heat has been increasing since March. At present, yellow watermelon of Karnataka state is being sold more than watermelon and other fruits in Theni district.

These watermelons are not available quickly.

Although yellow watermelon is not as common in the market compared to its red counterpart, farmers are cultivating it in states like Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and now Tripura. Tripura, known for the cultivation of red watermelon, is gradually encouraging more farmers to cultivate yellow watermelon. This new approach to farming not only increases the economic self-sufficiency of local farmers, but also contributes to meeting the nutritional needs of the community.

If we talk about its nutrients, then yellow watermelon contains many elements like Vitamin-B, Vitamin-A and C, Iron, Magnesium, Phosphorus, Beta Carotene. It is a good fruit to keep the body hydrated in summer. Apart from this, it increases immunity and improves metabolism.
