Mukesh Aghi, head of the US-based Business and Strategic Group on India, has said that China will never consider India an equal partner. By deploying troops on the border, China is forcing New Delhi to invest more in the defense sector instead of capital investment. There has been a standoff between the armies of India and China since May 2020. Although both sides have completed several rounds of diplomatic and military level talks, the border dispute still remains unresolved. Mukesh Aghi is the Chairman of the US-India Strategic and Partnership Forum. He said that this is the first time in the history of mankind that a democratic country with a population of 1.4 billion is developing at such a fast pace. India’s economy, which is growing at the rate of 7 to 8 percent, has become a 4 trillion dollar economy.

A challenge for India

Mukesh Aghi said that India is facing the challenge of economic development. The biggest challenge before India is China. China will not look at India as an equal. China is a military power, an economic and technology power. Its mission began with dominance in the Asia Pacific. China sees India as its biggest challenge on that front.
