Hottest month April: It is extremely hot in many areas of the country. People are troubled by the heat. In the month of April, the temperature reached 45 degrees Celsius at many places in South India. In most of the states the temperature is being recorded above 40 degrees. According to the Meteorological Department, for the first time in 123 years, April was felt to be the hottest month. This broke a 100 year old record. April was the hottest month this year. For the first time since 1901, most parts of the country experienced maximum days of heat in April.

Even in May, people are less likely to get respite from the scorching heat. This month the temperature will increase further in most parts of the country. The Meteorological Department has predicted heat wave for 11 days in May. However, 2023 is projected to be the hottest year on record.

The maximum temperature in April also broke the record

Chief Meteorological Department (IMD) Mrityunjay Mohapatra said that the average maximum temperature in April in southern peninsular India was recorded at 31 degrees Celsius. This was the second highest number after 1901. At the same time, the maximum temperature in southern peninsular India has continuously remained above normal since the 1980s. The weather department says that since 2016, Odisha witnessed the longest continuous heat wave of 16 days this April. This is the biggest event after 2016. The number of heat wave days in April reached a 15-year high in Gangetic West Bengal and a 9-year high in Odisha.

According to the Meteorological Department, heat wave may last for about 8-11 days in May in South Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Marathwada and Gujarat regions. Heat wave is likely to last for 5-7 days this month in East Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, parts of Chhattisgarh, Interior Odisha, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, North Interior Karnataka and Telangana. Usually the heat wave in May lasts for about 3 days in North India, Central India and adjoining areas of Peninsular India.
