Government Block Mobile Handset: It is often seen that scammers commit online fraud by changing the SIM card. However, now the government is directly blocking the mobile phones of fraudsters as well as their SIM cards. TRAI has intensified action against those who cheat mobile users by sending messages. Under this, the Department of Telecommunications i.e. DoT has started blocking the handsets involved in such activities, apart from disconnecting the mobile numbers.

Government blocked 10 thousand mobile numbers

Let us tell you that Likchakshu portal has been launched by the government for complaints related to online fraud. After this, till now 52 locations sending fake SMS have been blacklisted. Besides, 348 mobile handsets have also been blocked. Apart from this, 10,834 suspicious mobile numbers have been sent for verification. All these mobile numbers had to be verified by 30 April 2024. After this these numbers have been blocked.

You will not be able to get a SIM on fake documents

DoT has blocked 1.58 lakh mobile devices taken on fake documents. According to the report, till April 30 this year, DoT has disconnected a total of 1.66 crore mobile connections.

How to avoid fraud

  • If someone sends you many fake messages, then immediately report it on Chakshu portal.
  • Apart from this, do not share OTP, password or sensitive information with anyone.
  • If you send fake messages to someone and someone complains about you, your mobile will be switched off.
  • Do not click on calls, messages and links coming from unknown numbers.
  • Do not issue SIM card on fake documents.
