New Zealand batsman Colin Munro has announced his retirement from international cricket before the T20 World Cup. Munro has not got a chance to play for the Kiwi team for the last four years. He played his last match for New Zealand in 2020 against India. He has not been selected in the New Zealand team for the upcoming T20 World Cup due to which he decided to retire.
Munro, 37, was considered New Zealand’s specialist limited overs batsman. He has played 65 T20I and 57 ODI matches for New Zealand in which he scored almost 3000 runs. He is the only batsman to score 3 centuries for New Zealand in T20 cricket.
This batsman made his debut for New Zealand by playing T20 match in December 2012. With this, he played his first match in ODI next month. Munro was a white ball specialist so he got a chance to play his only Test for New Zealand in 2013. He was out for a golden duck in the first innings of the one-off Test against South Africa and scored 15 runs in the second innings.
Colin Munro was part of the New Zealand team in the T20 World Cup 2014 and 2016. When the Kiwi team was runner-up in the 2019 World Cup, Munro was also a part of that team. Announcing his retirement, Munro said that he has decided to retire after not being able to make a place in the 2024 T20 World Cup squad.
