Sunil Gavaskar on Virat Kohli: Former Indian team captain Sunil Gavaskar is angry with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batsman Virat Kohli. Gavaskar reacted to Kohli’s strike rate comment and slammed him and the broadcaster. In the match played on Saturday, RCB defeated Gujarat Titans by four wickets. While commentating during this match, Gavaskar responded to Kohli’s statement.

Gavaskar said, all these people are talking that we do not care about external noise. If yes, why are you answering this? Although not much, we also played some cricket. We don’t have any agenda. We talk about what we see. We don’t care about anyone’s likes and dislikes. We are just giving our opinion on what is happening.

He said, commentators raise questions when the strike rate is 118. I can’t say with much confidence because I don’t watch many matches so I don’t know what other commentators are saying. But if you get out with a strike rate of 118 and want praise for it, then it is a different thing.

What did Kohli say?

Kohli scored unbeaten 70 runs in the match played against Gujarat on 28 April. Meanwhile, Kohli hit six fours and three sixes at a strike rate of 159.09. Responding to critics after the match, he said, people were talking about my style of play and my struggle against spinners, but for me winning is everything. This is the only reason for playing for the last 15 years. Playing on the field and commentating from the commentary box are two very different situations. You want to win for your team. I’m just doing my job. That’s how I play. No matter what people say, I know my game very well. People have their own opinions and prejudices. People who are on the field doing the same thing 24 hours a day understand what is happening.
