Mats Hummels scored the only goal as Borussia Dortmund defeated Kylian Mbappe and Paris Saint-Germain in the second leg of the Champions League semi-finals to reach the final for the first time in 11 years. Along with this, Mbappe also played his last match for PSG. Mbappe is out of contract with PSG and will likely join Real Madrid. Borussia won with a 2–0 aggregate score. Mats Hummels scored an aggressive goal in the fifth minute of the second half, to which PSG’s defenders had no answer. PSG also tried to score four times but all were unsuccessful.

Borussia Dortmund last played in the final in 2013, losing to Jurgen Klopp’s Dortmund Bayern in a match played at Wembley. Hummels also played in that final. Mbappe attempted to give PSG the lead in the seventh minute but Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel made a brilliant save. In the 86th minute of the match, Kobel scored a goal which went out after hitting the goalpost.
