Rohit Vemula Case: The case of Rohit Vemula’s death is once again in the news. Telangana Police will continue further investigation into the death of student Rohit Vemula. In the press note issued by the DGP of Telangana Police, it has been said that the mother of the deceased and his brother are suspicious of some people. Therefore, it has been decided to continue further investigation of the case. The closure report was filed in the High Court by Telangana Police on 2 May. Media reports revealed that the police has given a clean chit to everyone. After the closure report of the police, the High Court asked the family to appeal in the lower court, while after the closure report of the police, the issue of Rohit Vemula has once again heated up in Hyderabad Central University. Students associated with NSUI demonstrated and demanded a fresh investigation. Not only this, Rohit Vemula’s brother Raj Vemula talked about raising this matter against CM Revanth Reddy.
Now the DGP of Telangana Police said that it has been decided to investigate the case further and a petition will be filed in the concerned court requesting the magistrate to allow further investigation of the case.
Investigation will be done with the approval of the court
A statement issued by the DGP of Telangana Police said that the mother of deceased Rohith Vemula and others have raised some doubts on the investigation, hence it has been decided to investigate the matter further. A petition will be filed in the court requesting the magistrate to allow further investigation of the case. The DGP said the final closure report in the case was prepared on the basis of the investigation conducted before November 2023 and was officially filed in the judicial court by the investigating officer on March 21, 2024.
Earlier it was believed that the case of Rohit Vemula’s suicide would be closed. Now after the decision of Telangana Police to investigate further, a new twist has come in the case. Rohit Vemula committed suicide by hanging himself in the Hyderabad Central University hostel in January 2016. After this there was a lot of debate on this matter. After this the police started investigation and presented the closure report after 100 months on 2 May. At that time there was BRS government in the state and KCR was the Chief Minister of the state.
