Amit Palekar arrested in road rage case: Goa Aam Aadmi Party President Amit Palekar was arrested by the Crime Branch on Thursday (August 31). Palekar has been arrested on charges of tampering with evidence in the Banastri road rage case. Amit Palekar was the chief ministerial face of AAP in the 2022 Goa assembly elections.

 

 

 

According to news agency PTI, earlier this month, a Mercedes car ran over three people near Panaji. A police official said that Amit Palekar was taken into custody from his office in Panaji. Regarding his arrest, Palekar said that this is dirty politics. I have nothing to do with this crime.

According to the report, a senior police officer said that in order to protect the main accused who was driving the car at the time of the accident, Palekar impersonated a wrong person as the driver of the car before the investigating officer. Palekar has been arrested under Indian Penal Code section 201 (causing destruction of evidence of an offence, or giving false information about an offender), a police official said.

BJP was accused of this

Speaking to reporters under police protection, Palekar also claimed that he was offered to join the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) a few days back, but declined. Without naming anyone, Palekar said, I was told that if you do not listen to us, we will teach you a lesson.

What was the matter?

According to PTI, Paresh Savardekar, owner of a real estate company, rammed five vehicles with his Mercedes car at Banastri near Panaji on August 7. In which three people died. According to the police, Paresh was driving under the influence of alcohol.
