Description of Rama’s dark form in Valmiki Ramayana

In Valmiki Ramayana, Lord Rama’s appearance has been described as dark complexioned. For this reason, the idol of Ramlala is made of black stone which is called ‘Shila’. This stone is also known as ‘Krishna Shila’ for centuries. This stone has many properties hence it is considered very special. For example, when Ramlala is anointed with milk, there will be no change in the quality of the milk due to the stone. He can also use milk and it will not affect his health. Not only this, this stone will remain the same for thousands of years.
