Varanasi, May 10 (HS). TB-free India campaign is now gaining momentum. Private hospitals of the district are also continuously coming forward to adopt TB patients in the campaign. Last month, six private hospitals accepted 51 new patients of Drug Sensitive Tuberculosis (DSTB). These hospitals will cooperate in the treatment and nutrition of these patients.
Apart from this, non-government org.zations (NGOs) including health department officials are also adopting TB patients and providing them treatment and nutrition as well as emotional support. CMO Dr. Sandeep Chaudhary gave this information on Friday.
He said that Indian Medical Association (IMA) Varanasi branch has claimed to support 25 new patients in their nutrition by adopting them. Nishant Parasar, a member of Heal Foundation and a resident of Kuwait, has also been inspired and has pledged to help in the nutrition of five patients of Bhelupur TB Unit by adopting them. Deputy CMO of Health Department, Dr. Moizuddin Hashmi has also adopted 10 TB patients. CMO himself has adopted 10 TB patients and DTO 5 TB patients. Treatment of all these patients continues for six months. During this time they are also provided with nutrition packets.
As soon as the treatment of the adopted patients is completed, the CMO and DTO are adopting other patients and helping them in their treatment and nutrition. Apart from this, on the Nikshay Diwas celebrated on 15th of every month, they are also meeting the adopted patients and giving them emotional support. CMO said that treatment of TB is completely possible. But for this, regular medicine intake and care is also very important. TB testing facility is available in all urban and rural health centers and hospitals. As soon as symptoms appear, immediate testing should be done.
DTO Dr. Piyush Rai said that with the increase in TB notifications, it is also necessary to complete the treatment of patients successfully. At present the TB success rate of the district is 91 percent. Currently 7674 TB patients are on treatment.
