Mumbai: The Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) of Mumbai Police raided various locations of builder Lalit Tekchand. in Mumbai. A case of fraud has been registered against Tekchanda. According to sources, in this regard, raids were conducted at Tekchand.’s residence, office and two other locations in Mumbai.

Mumbai Police had filed an FIR against Tekchand., his wife and directors of Supreme Construction and others at the Chembur police station last week. In this case, the complainant said that he had booked a flat in a housing project of Tekchand. in Taloja, Navi Mumbai for Rs 36 lakh. Although the company had said that this project would be completed in 2017, but the work on the project was stopped in 2016. The complaint claimed that hundreds of people had paid to buy houses in Tekchand.’s project. Although these people did not get the flat, they did not get the money back either.

Police said that on the basis of the complaint, a case has been registered against Tekchand. and others under sections 420, 406 of IPC. According to officials, the Economic Offenses Wing is investigating further in this case as the amount of fraud involved is very huge. The FIR lodged against Tekchand. and others at Taloja police station alleges that the accused took money from 160 customers at another of their projects in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai. A fraud of Rs 44 crore has been committed.
