Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan has refuted speculations that he is going to enter politics by contesting the Lok Sabha elections from Prayagraj in 2024 on a Samajwadi Party ticket, saying, “I am not interested in politics and want to work as an actor.” I want to maintain my identity.” for the rest of my life. Talking to the media about the speculations about joining politics, he said that when my mother also came to know about these speculations, she asked me, have you taken this decision without informing us? I had to tell them that I had no intention of joining politics.

Significantly, Amitabh Bachchan won the Lok Sabha elections in 1984 from Prayagraj (then Allahabad) on a Congress ticket. Then he surprised everyone by defeating former Chief Minister and then veteran leader Hemavatinandan Bahuguna. Amitabh got 68 per cent votes while Lok Dal’s Bahuguna got only 25 per cent votes. Jaya Bachchan is also a Rajya Sabha MP from SP since 2004.

Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party’s media cell also tweeted that SP has a long line of strong candidates. SP is considering giving ticket to a member of Bahuguna family from Prayagraj. Talking about the work front, Abhishek has already completed the shooting of two films. His film ‘Ghoomar’ with Saiyami Kher will be releasing soon. The shooting of his film with Remo D’Souza has also been completed. Abhishek will also be seen in Sujit Sircar’s film.
