New Goods Rules: If you travel by Air India then this news is useful for you. Indian airline company Air India, owned by Tata Group, has taken a big decision. The company has changed its free baggage policy. Loss-making Air India has reduced the minimum weight of cabin baggage for a passenger in the lowest fare class on domestic flights from 20 kg to 15 kg.

The airline said a one-size-fits-all approach is no longer ideal. An airline spokesperson said the fare model has three categories – Comfort, Comfort Plus and Flex. They offer different features at different prices. The free cabin baggage facility under Comfort and Comfort Plus categories has been reduced from 20 kg and 25 kg to 15 kg with effect from May 2.

Till now 25 kg is allowed

Before the current fare model, passengers on Air India domestic flights were allowed to carry 25 kg of cabin baggage without any extra charges.
