New Delhi: People fond of alcohol will now have to loosen their pockets more than before to spill the jam. In fact, the Tamil Nadu government has increased the retail prices of around 18 brands of imported liquor. After the new prices, 500 ml beer has become costlier by Rs 20. At the same time, an increase of about Rs 320 has been made on one liter bottle of some brands. After the new prices, 100 Pipers Blended Scotch Whiskey which was earlier sold for Rs 460 will now be available for Rs 520.

Tamil Nadu Liquor Corporation Tasmac has increased the retail prices of foreign liquor and beer imported from other states. As reported by TOI, the revised MRP list of beer has seen an increase. There has been an increase of Rs 10 on 330 ml and Rs 20 on 500 ml. At the same time, the prices of vodka, whiskey, gin and rum have been increased significantly.

According to the new prices of Vodka, Whisky, Gin and Rum, there has been an increase of Rs 240 in 700 and 750 ml bottles. An increase of Rs 320 has been made on one liter bottle. The MRP list reflects over 500 varieties and brands of imported liquor. Imported alcohol is sold exclusively at specialized stores.

Apart from imported liquor, the liquor corporation has also increased the prices of various types of liquor procured from other states. At the same time, 18 varieties of liquor have become costlier by Rs 320. Sources reveal that only three of these varieties are available across all retail outlets. For example, 100 Pipers Blended Scotch Whisky, which was earlier sold for Rs 460 per 180 ml, will now retail for Rs 520. Similarly, the price of Globus wine has increased from Rs 140 to Rs 170 per 180 ml.
