New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday praised the passage of the Women’s Reservation Bill and raised some questions. Rahul Gandhi said in a press conference that this bill is very important for women. But we have seen two footnotes in it. Addressing a press conference a day after the Women’s Reservation Bill was passed in the Rajya Sabha, Rahul Gandhi on Friday hit out at the government, saying the bill was a “strategy to divert attention from the demand for caste census”.

MPs are like idols in temples: Rahul Gandhi

Hitting out at Amit Shah for saying the BJP has OBC representation in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi said no BJP MP can take any decision or participate in making laws.

Rahul Gandhi said that you can ask any Lok Sabha MP. Lok Sabha is called the temple of democracy. You ask any BJP MP whether you make any law, whether you take any decision. Never. No MP of Congress, BJP or India takes any decision on his own. Just like there are idols in a temple, MPs are made in the same way. No one has the strength. There is no partnership to run the country.

Rahul Gandhi claimed this was idolatry, a BJP MP told me outside Parliament. He said that the government should make the census public.
