Lucknow, 07 May (HS). State Chief Electoral Officer Navdeep Rinwa said that the fifth phase of voting in Uttar Pradesh will be held on May 20. In this phase, the process of withdrawal of nominations for elections on 14 Lok Sabha seats of the state was completed on Tuesday. After the withdrawal of nominations, now a total of 144 candidates, including national parties and independents, are in the fray for these 14 seats. There are 04 candidates in the election in Lucknow East Assembly by-election.

The Chief Electoral Officer of Uttar Pradesh said that with the announcement of the dates of Lok Sabha elections by the Election Commission of India, the process of conducting free, fair, peaceful, fear-free, inducement-free, inclusive and safe voting is underway in the state. In the fifth phase of Lok Sabha General Election-2024, election notification was issued on 26 April (Friday) for 14 Lok Sabha constituencies and Lucknow East Assembly by-election-2024. With the notification, after the nomination process, review and withdrawal of nominations in Lok Sabha constituencies, 144 candidates and 04 candidates are in the fray for Lucknow East Assembly by-election.

The Chief Electoral Officer said that among the Lok Sabha seats for which elections are to be held, 11 candidates are in the fray from Mohanlalganj (SC). A total of 10 candidates are in the fray for Lucknow Lok Sabha constituency. A total of 08 candidates are in the fray for Rae Bareli Lok Sabha constituency. A total of 13 candidates are in the fray for Amethi Lok Sabha constituency. A total of 06 candidates are in the fray for Jalaun (SC) Lok Sabha constituency. A total of 10 candidates are in the fray for Jhansi Lok Sabha constituency.

A total of 11 candidates are in the fray for Hamirpur Lok Sabha constituency. A total of 12 candidates are in the fray for Banda Lok Sabha constituency. A total of 10 candidates are in the fray for Kaushambi (SC) Lok Sabha constituency. A total of 13 candidates are in the fray for Barabanki (SC) Lok Sabha constituency. A total of 13 candidates are in the fray for Faizabad Lok Sabha constituency. A total of 08 candidates are in the fray for Gonda Lok Sabha constituency.

The Chief Electoral Officer said that a total of 15 candidates are in the fray for Fatehpur Lok Sabha constituency. Whereas a total of 04 candidates are in the fray for Kaiserganj Lok Sabha constituency.

A total of 04 candidates are in the fray for Lucknow East Assembly Constituency. Alok Kushwaha from Bahujan Samaj Party, Mukesh Singh Chauhan from Indian National Congress, OP Srivastava from Bharatiya Janata Party and Vinod Kumar Balmiki are independent candidates. The fifth phase of voting will conclude on Monday, May 20. Counting of votes in all the constituencies of Uttar Pradesh will be done on Tuesday, June 04.
