Two phases of voting have taken place across the country in the Lok Sabha elections going on since last April. The third phase of voting is to be held on many seats this week. Due to the third phase of voting, bank branches will remain closed in many cities on Tuesday i.e. 7th May.

Third phase voting this week

The elections for the 18th Lok Sabha are being held in seven phases. Voting has taken place in the first two phases on April 19 and April 26. Now the third phase of voting is to be held on Tuesday 7th May. In this third phase, voting will be held on 94 Lok Sabha seats of different states. Banks will remain closed wherever voting takes place on Tuesday. Due to this, common customers may face some difficulties in banking operations.

There will be holiday in these cities

According to the Reserve Bank of India’s holiday list, there will be bank holidays in Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Panaji and Raipur circles due to the third phase of Lok Sabha elections. Bank holidays have arrived in May. The month started with a holiday. Banks were closed on the first day of the month i.e. 1st May due to Maharashtra Day and Labor Day.

Other holidays in May

Apart from bank holidays, there are many holidays this month because Lok Sabha elections are on Tuesday next week. According to the list of holidays of the Reserve Bank of India, other holidays falling this month are as follows…

  • May 8: Rabindranath Tagore’s birthday (Wednesday), banks will remain closed in Bengal.
  • May 10: Banks will remain closed on Basava Jayanti/Akshaya Tritiya, Karnataka.
  • May 13: Lok Sabha General Elections 2024, Fourth Phase, (Tuesday), Banks will remain closed in Srinagar.
  • 16 May: State Day – (Thursday), banks will remain closed in Sikkim.
  • May 20: Lok Sabha General Elections 2024, Fifth Phase – (Monday) – Banks will remain closed in Maharashtra.
  • May 23: Buddha Purnima (Thursday) Banks will remain closed in Tripura, Mizoram, Madhya Pradesh, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Jammu, Lucknow, Bengal, New Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh, Srinagar.
  • May 25: Nazrul Jayanti/Lok Sabha General Elections 2024 – 6th Phase (4th Saturday) – Banks to remain closed in Tripura, Odisha
