Chhattisgarh High Court has given an important decision on the issue of live-in relationship. The court has called live-in relationship a stigma. The court said that this is an insult to Indian culture. The High Court said in its comment that this is an idea imported from western countries which is contrary to the general expectations of Indian customs. Chhattisgarh High Court gave this decision in a case related to Dantewada. The double bench of Justices Gautam Bhaduri and Sanjay S Aggarwal made this strong observation in a case of custody of a child born out of sexual intercourse in a live-in relationship. Actually, the father had filed a petition in the High Court on the issue of custody of the child. After hearing the case, the court rejected this application. Making a strong comment, the court said that the live-in relationship adopted in some sections of the society is still running as a stigma in Indian culture. Because live in relationship is an imported idea, which is contrary to the general expectations of Indian customs.

The court cannot close its eyes

The court said that it is easier for a married person to get out of a live-in relationship. In such a case, the Court cannot close its eyes to the plight of the survivors of the above mentioned painful live in relationship and the children born out of that relationship. The court considered this relationship contrary to Indian beliefs.
