Nainital, May 09 (Hindustan) Regarding selecting the place for the High Court and proposing it to the Chief Justice, a general meeting of the advocates was held on Thursday in the High Court Bar Association, in which the advocates expressed their views un.mously. Said that the High Court should not be shifted from Nainital. If there is shortage of space then Metropole, Kumaon University and ATI can be taken over. After that the meeting will continue on Friday. The resolution will be given to the Chief Justice only.

The proposal to create a bench of the court in IDPL is impractical. The High Court Bar Association strongly opposes this. He said that the High Court should not be shifted from Nainital under any circumstances. Senior High Court advocate MC Kandpal said that he had demanded shifting of the High Court but he had never demanded setting up a bench of the High Court somewhere else. He said that wherever the High Court goes, it should be completed otherwise it should be allowed to remain where it is established.

Secretary Saurabh Adhikari conducted the meeting. In the meeting, a large number of advocates including Dr. Mahendra Singh Pal, Pushpa Joshi, DS Mehta, Vijay Bhatt, Vinod Tiwari, Syed Moon expressed their views and said that the High Court will not be allowed to be shifted from Nainital.

Let us tell you that on May 8, the division bench headed by the Chief Justice had given oral orders to the government to submit a report in this matter for opening a bench of the High Court in IDPL Rishikesh. Due to which the lawyers of the association were very angry after the High Court. In which the advocates said in the meeting that even if they had to go to jail for this, they would have gone. The Chief Justice had asked all the advocates of the Bar Association to propose the name of the place for the High Court. Therefore, discussion on this issue will continue in the House on Friday also.
