In this context, while on one hand special emphasis is being laid on management of dust pollution on roads and open areas and establishment of dedicated sites for construction and demolition waste, on the other hand greenery and tree plantation campaigns are also being carried out. Apart from this, attention is also being paid to the cleanliness of the roads and by cle.ng the roads with the help of mech.cal road sweeping machines, dust particles are also being prevented from flying by sprinkling water through water sprinklers. For development and improvement of parking spaces, 7 interlock paving blocks are being installed in Shahdara South Zone and 1 in Najafgarh Zone. To combat dust pollution, dirt roads, broken roads and potholes are being maintained and repaired. According to the corporation, Public Works Department of 52 mech.cal road sweepers have been deployed for cle.ng work on the roads. Besides this, water is being sprinkled through 225 water sprinklers, while mobile anti-smog guns have been installed on various roads, to reduce the presence of dust in the air.
Apart from this, 20 anti smog guns have also been installed at various facilities of the corporation such as C&D plants, landfill sites and waste to energy plants. Apart from this, 15 anti-smog guns have been deployed on the identified tall buildings of the corporation. 95 anti-smog guns have been installed at 32 construction sites (C&D sites). Which is being continuously inspected by dedicated teams of the zone (building department). The corporation official said that proactive initiatives have been taken by the corporation to prevent dust pollution and deal with the increasing construction and demolition (C&D) waste. Under this, special emphasis is being laid on identifying major C&D waste collection sites, preventing illegal dumping and sensitizing citizens on responsible waste disposal. The Corporation has identified 68 collection sites and established 42 C&D waste collection sites. Saplings are being planted on a large scale by the Horticulture Department of the Corporation.
