New Delhi, April 20 (Hindustan Reporter) Coming off the back of two impressive wins, the jubilant JSW and GMR co-owned franchise Delhi Capitals will look to complete a hat-trick of wins against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi this evening.

Regarding playing home matches in Delhi for the first time in the season, Delhi Capitals head coach Ricky Ponting said in an official statement issued by the franchise on Friday, “We are really excited to be back on home soil. This is the home ground and we want to ensure that it becomes a fort. “When opposition teams come here, we are excited to be here and hopefully we can get our domestic campaign off to a good start.”

Talking about the pitch he further added, “On the back of the WPL, we wanted to make sure we had some grass and the wicket could potentially play a little better for us than it has in the last few years.”

Sunrisers Hyderabad has broken the record of highest score twice this season. They are currently fourth in the points table with four wins and two losses in six matches. Regarding the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Ponting said, “If it is a high-scoring game then we have no objection to a shootout, that is what will happen.”

“We know and expect them to play the same way they have played so far in the tournament, working hard at the top of the order with the bat, and trying to get a big score in the first innings,” he said. Are. So, we are happy to try to match them in this. We feel we have an equally good batting line-up, if not better, than theirs.”

Ponting also gave an update on David Warner’s fitness. He said, “A few days ago he was 85 or 90 percent fit, we expected him to improve a little more, but he will have to bat a lot against fast bowlers. Hopefully he is fit and ready.”

Delhi Capitals will take on Sunrisers Hyderabad in their next match of IPL 2024 this evening at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.
