Bank holiday: Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has released the list of holidays for banks and banks will remain closed for 14 days for the month of May due to various occasions.

To facilitate your banking related activities, we share with you the dates when banks will remain closed during the month of May so that you can plan your activities in advance.

There will be no functioning of banks at different places for eight days in the month of May. Apart from these, banks will also remain closed on 4 Sundays and 2 Saturdays.

Banks will remain closed in Belapur, Bengaluru, Chennai, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Nagpur, Panaji, Patna and Thiruvananthapuram on 1 May due to Maharashtra Day/May Day. At the same time, banks will remain closed in some states for 3 days in May due to voting for the Lok Sabha elections.

7 May: Lok Sabha Elections 2024 (Tuesday) Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Goa.

8 May: Rabindranath Tagore’s birthday (Wednesday) Banks are closed in Bengal.

10 May: Banks are closed in Karnataka on Basava Jayanti/Akshaya Tritiya.

13 May: Lok Sabha Elections 2024 (Tuesday) Srinagar

16 May: State Day (Thursday) Banks closed in Sikkim.

20 May: Lok Sabha Elections 2024 (Monday) Bank closed in Maharashtra.

23 May: Buddha Purnima (Thursday) Banks are closed in Tripura, Mizoram, Madhya Pradesh, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Jammu, Lucknow, Bengal, New Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh, Srinagar.

25 May: Nazrul Jayanti/Lok Sabha General Election 2024 (4th Saturday) Banks closed in Tripura, Orissa.

On bank holidays, you can transact money or do other work through online banking and ATM.

Although banks will remain closed on these days, internet and mobile banking will function normally and customers will be able to easily conduct online transactions.

Customers are advised to visit their respective bank branches to know about the working days of banks in their area.

PS: In case of a month having five Saturdays, the fifth Saturday will be a working day.
