According to the complaint filed by Sinku Sharan Singh, DC, Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center (I4C), some morphed videos are being circulated on social media “with the intention of creating disharmony between communities”, thereby disturbing public peace and public order. The system is likely to be affected.
The complainant also attacked the links from which the videos were shared and were attached for further action, police said, adding that a copy of the FIR was also sent to the IFSO unit of Delhi Cyber Police.
According to sources, Delhi Police has also written letters to X and Facebook, seeking information from the social media platform about the source of the doctored clip of Amit Shah and the account from where the video was first shared.
‘There could be large-scale violence’
Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) attacked the Congress over the doctored video of the Home Minister and accused the opposition party of spreading communal disharmony in the country by circulating and sharing edited clips.
In a post on Twitter, BJP IT-cell chief Amit Malviya circulated a doctored video of Amit Shah attacking the Telangana unit of Congress, which he claimed “is likely to lead to large-scale violence.”
“Telangana Congress is spreading an edited video, which is completely fake and is likely to lead to large-scale violence,” Malviya wrote on Twitter.
He pointed out that Shah was only talking about removing the “unconstitutional reservation” benefits given to Muslims which are based on religion.
“Home Minister Amit Shah talked about removing the unconstitutional reservation given to Muslims on the basis of religion, after reducing the share of SC/ST and OBC. This fake video has been posted by several Congress spokespersons, including @asmatasleem13 and others. They should be prepared for legal consequences,” Malviya said.
Shah’s claim, Congress tried to end reservation for the underprivileged.
In a statement, Amit Shah also accused the Congress and its former president Rahul Gandhi of “misleading” people on reservation, claiming that the grand-old party had done harm to the deprived sections by giving reservation to minorities in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.
