Ahmedabad, 06 May (HS). Seven accused, including former BJP MP Dinu Bodha Solanki, have got a big relief in the RTI activist Amit Jethwa murder case. The case was heard on Tuesday in which the Gujarat High Court quashed the trial court’s decision by declaring it ineligible and acquitted all the accused from the case.

Earlier, the CBI trial court had convicted all the accused and sentenced them to life imprisonment. The accused had challenged the trial court’s decision in the High Court on June 7, 2019. During the hearing, the court also mentioned Satyameva Jayate of Mundakop.shad. The court said that religion resides in the hearts of people, without it no law, constitution or reform is possible. Anand Yagnik appeared in the court on behalf of the victim’s side, Rajesh Modi on behalf of Dinu Bodha Solanki and Mukesh Kapadia appeared in the court on behalf of CBI.

RTI activist Amit Jethwa was shot dead on July 20, 2010, near the Satyamev Complex outside the High Court in Ahmedabad. On this day, Amit Jethwa was going to give an affidavit in the High Court regarding the threat to his life from Dinu Solanki. After the murder, the deceased’s father Bhikha Jethwa had lodged an FIR against 7 people including former Gir Somnath MP Dinu Bodha Solanki at Sola police station in Ahmedabad. After Sola Police, SIT was formed to investigate the case. Later a CBI inquiry was demanded. After the order of the High Court, this case was transferred to CBI in the year 2012. On November 5, 2013, former MP Dinu Bodha Solanki was arrested. After being in jail for 3 and a half months, the court ordered his release on bail. Later, in the year 2019, the CBI court had sentenced 7 accused including Dinu Solanki to life imprisonment in the case of murder and criminal conspiracy. Besides, an order was also given to collect a fine of Rs 15 lakh.

After the CBI Court convicted Dinu Solanki, on June 7, 2019, he applied in the High Court against the decision of the CBI Court. After this, in September 2021, the High Court had stayed the sentence of Dinu Solanki, keeping the appeal pending. Last year, the life sentence of his nephew Shiva Solanki was stayed. Along with this, bail was granted till the hearing on the appeal filed against the sentence is pending. There were 7 accused in this case, including the names of Shailesh Pandya, Udaji Thakor, Shiva Pachan, Shiva Solanki, Bahadur Singh Wadher, Sanjay Chauhan and Dinubodha Solanki.
