Air India and Air India Express airlines have suddenly had to cancel 78 of their flights and the main reason for this is shortage of staff. Actually, the crew members of the airlines have gone on sick leave together, due to which the company has had to take this step. The special thing is that these employees did not even give any notice for leave.

Crew members went on leave without notice

Air India Express said international and domestic flights have been affected due to senior crew members suddenly going on leave without any notice. This protest has taken a bigger form since Tuesday night. Due to which airlines had to cancel more than 78 flights. Most of these flights are to the Middle East and Gulf countries. Apart from this, many flights are running late.

There is news that Air India and Air India Express are going to be merged, against which the employees are continuously protesting. Pilots and cabin crew of both airlines feel that their jobs are at risk.

Airlines advice for passengers

Air India Express issued a statement saying, ‘A section of our senior cabin crew reported illness at the last minute last night resulting in flight delays and multiple cancellations. We are talking to Croom members to understand the reasons behind these incidents. Our teams are working swiftly to minimize inconvenience to passengers.

Let us tell you that the Civil Aviation Authority is investigating this matter. The airline says affected passengers will be given a full refund or have the option to reschedule their flight to another date. Air India Express has advised passengers to check their flight status before leaving for the airport.

Due to the sudden cancellation of Air India flights, many passengers faced problems and many of them shared their complaints on social media. Some wrote, ‘They were not given any information about the cancellation of flights and this is very disappointing.’
