Bhopal: ‘Zindagi Ke Kai Rang Re’ Drama Festival Stages Eight Plays, A Homage To Munshi Premchand | FPJ

Bhopal(Madhya Pradesh): A series of eight stories exploring different facets of human life and social upheaval were staged at the Mahadevi Verma Auditorium, Hindi Bhavan, on Saturday.

The performances were part of the drama festival ‘Zindagi Ke Kai Rang Re’, organized by the Rangbhoomi Cultural and Literary Committee and dedicated to renowned Hindi writer Munshi Premchand. All these stories were directed and adapted by theatre artist Ashok Bulani.

One of the featured plays, ‘Netaji Kanuni Kumar’, written by Munshi Premchand, presented the life of a politician who dreams of social reform while living in the world of dreams.

‘Cheater,’ written by Gokul Soni is centered on the success of a girl from a poor family. After immense hard work and turmoil, the girl of a poor family is selected for the post of collector.

Ghanshyam Maithil’s ‘Gareeb ki Beti’ highlighted the misuse of political power, portraying how a minister deploys an entire police station to find his lost buffalo.

‘Bewkoof,’ written by Charanjit Singh Kukreja depicts the story of a husband who is still moving ahead with the mentality of misogynistic society and holds a lot of prejudice against women while considering women only as maids.

Another notable play, ‘Imandari Ki Saza’, written by Manorama Pant, portrayed the struggles of an elderly employee who devoted his life to honest service, only to face corruption in the same office where he served his entire life while trying to claim his pension, as officials demanded a bribe.

This festival in the city was a theatrical experience for all the audience who attended and glorified the legacy and art of Munshi Premchand.
