‘Summer of 69’ by Bryan Adams for many is not just a song but an avenue of memories, capturing vivid emotions. Many in India were enthralled with jubilance when the Canadian singer-songwriter announced his India tours, which came to pass in the second week of December 2024.
Bryan Adams In India
While many took home the memories above, making new ones in the same process, others struggled to find the euphoria, that they were perhaps promised.
Many concertgoers have expressed their dismay at what they experienced at these concerts, which were held in five different Indian cities over a period of a week, starting on December 10 and ending on December 16.
One such concertgoer took to X to share his experience at a Bryan Adams concert in Gurugram, which was more than underwhelming.
The Bryan Adams Gurugram show happened on December 12 at Backyards Sports Club.
In his post on the platform, X user by the name of Akassh Ashok Gupta slammed Zomato and the organisers of the show.
Families and Kids Left Stressed
Gupta, who also happens to be a YouTuber with over a million subscribers said, “Attending the #BryanAdams concert in #Gurgaon, with tickets priced at INR 20k for the platinum tier, should have been an enjoyable experience. “
Things however, did not go swimmingly well for Gupta. He added, “Instead, it turned into a scene of chaos at the main counter, where people struggled to buy food and drinks due to an unnecessary coupon system that only accepted cash. Families, including children, were visibly stressed, and two kids even approached me for help.”
Corruption At Play?
He accused the staff of delinquency and added, “Upon investigating, I realized the machines were working perfectly, but the staff insisted on cash payments, citing “internet issues.” It was evident this was an attempt to avoid taxes—a clear example of corruption at play.”
‘Mismanagement Unacceptable’
“Organized by #Zomato Live and executed by an agency (name withheld for a broader message), this mismanagement at a global icon’s concert was unacceptable.”, he added.
“I decided to confront the situation assertively, calling out the staff, questioning their actions, and reminding them that such practices wouldn’t go unnoticed. I even hinted at going live, which quickly resulted in a change—within minutes, the machines were operational again.”
The X user further went on to allege that the staffers at the concert were willingly corrupt and indulged in malpractices.
He added, “I swiped INR 2000 to prove cash wasn’t needed and encouraged others to refuse cash transactions. This incident underscores how systemic corruption impacts us all and shows the power of assertive action. By standing up, asking the right questions, and staying calm but firm, we can drive change without resorting to violence or abuse.”
The Bryan Adams India tour came to a close on December 16 in Hyderabad at the GMR Arena.
