MP Youth Held With Illegal Firearm At Mahakumbh

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A 21-year-old youth from Rewa district was arrested by Prayagraj’s Naini police after he was caught carrying an illegal country-made pistol at the ongoing Mahakumbh. The youth, identified as Akhilesh Singh, had visited the Sangam for the holy dip on Basant Panchami and was returning when the authorities intercepted him.

An FIR has been lodged against him, and he has been sent to jail, police officials said. According to the police, Akhilesh Singh, hailing from the Jawa area of Rewa, was detained on Saturday after a tip-off.

Ramesh Singh, the in-charge of Jail Road police outpost, said Akhilesh was stopped behind a school, where officers found firearm and live ammunition in his possession.

Upon questioning, Akhilesh stated that he had come to take a dip at the Sangam and was returning home. He claimed that he was carrying the firearm as a personal interest or passion. Further investigation will be carried out to trace the source of the weapon, police official said.

₹2.77 Lakh, Jewellery Worth ₹10 Lakh Seized

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Bhind police have arrested three persons in a loot case after brief encounter. They had looted a jeweller at gun point on Saturday evening, said police on Sunday.

The police cracked the case in six hours. Bhind SP Asit Yadav said jeweller Anand Soni filed a complaint wherein three accused came to his shop and opened fire outside the shop. They showed the gun and looted jewellery and ran away.

After the report, the police teams were formed while CCTV cameras were scanned to identify the accused of the case. Police came to know that in Ater police station area, three persons were sitting in a hideout. The police lay siege of the area and asked them to surrender themselves. Hearing it, they started running and opened fire on police team.

The police also opened eight fire rounds and arrested three including Shivam Tomar (23), Anshu Shrivas (19) and Mohit Tomar. The police have seized Rs 2.77 lakh, gold and silver jewellery worth Rs 10 lakh, two country made revolvers and five live cartridges from them.

Gang Of Burglars Arrested, Three held With Valuables

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Kamla Nagar police arrested three burglars who committed over half a dozen thefts in the city during the past few weeks. Police recovered stolen cash and jewellery worth Rs 14 lakh and three stolen bikes from their possession. The accused used to target locked homes in areas including Kamla Nagar, Piplani, Talaiya, Kotwali. The accused used stolen bikes for committing thefts in the daytime, said police.

Additional DCP Rashmi Agarwal Dubey said Satish Kumar Nema of Sahyadri Premises and his kin were away when burglars broke the locks of their home and decamped with cash and jewellery worth several lakh.

Police started investigations and identified the burglars through CCTV footage. They were identified as Niyaz Khan (40), Raju Khatri (52) and Abid Khan (47) and were nabbed near Shastri Nagar Ground on Saturday.

Questioning from them revealed that the gang committed around seven thefts in Kamla Nagar, Piplani, Talaiya, Kotwali and other areas. Niyaz hails from Bengaluru while Abid is a resident of Ashta district. The duo was friends with Raju and was residing with him at Gaddhewali Multi in TT Nagar area. The trio was arrested by Misrod police in theft cases and were released on bail only a few months back. They used stolen bikes for committing thefts in the daytime, Additional DCP added.
