The Pune Crime Branch’s Anti-Narcotics Cell seized hydroponic marijuana locally known as OG, and other drugs worth Rs. 5.56 lakh on Thursday, arresting one individual.
Hydroponic ganja is grown in a nutrient-rich water-based solution rather than soil and is popular in Thailand, where the consumption of the drug is legal, according to sources.
On Thursday, the ANC Squad 2, led by Police Inspector Sudarshan Gaikwad, Assistant Police Inspector Nitin Kumar Naik, and their team, were patrolling within the jurisdiction of Baner Police Station. Based on information received, Police Officer Azad Patil conducted a raid at Shivshakti Chowk, near the Rickshaw Stand in Baner, Pune.
During the operation, a 26-year-old man named Arjun Totigar, residing at B/1102, Sukhwani Panorama, Susgaon, Baner, Pune, was found in possession of 30 grams and 540 ml of hydroponic marijuana. The total value of the seized drugs amounted to Rs. 5,56,400.
A case was filed against the accused under sections of the NDPS Act at the Baner Police Station. The arrested individual is a graduate in Marketing and Sales and is currently employed with a private company.
