A 25-year-old man was apprehended for allegedly creating a nuisance inside a Delhi Metro train by pretending to consume alcohol and eat eggs in a bid to gain attention on social media, an official said on Wednesday.

Delhi Police on Wednesday arrested Aakash Kumar, a resident of Shahdara, for pretending to consume alcohol and eat an egg inside the Metro.

A complaint was filed after a video of the incident went viral on social media.

The viral video shows Kumar drinking from a bottle and eating a peeled egg while onboard a Metro train on the Pink Line. According to reports, he was traveling towards Maujpur.

After receiving the complaint, the police shared the video with DMRC staff, CISF personnel, and housekeeping staff, seeking information about the man seen in the viral video.

After days of effort, Kumar was tracked down and apprehended from Burari.

Kumar told the police that he had recorded the video on March 23 around 10 p.m. while traveling from Welcome to Karkardooma Court Metro station.

He also clarified that he consumed a soft drink while pretending to consume alcohol for publicity.

Confirming the arrest, Delhi Police on Wednesday shared a video of Kumar in police custody, urging people not to do such stunts, warning that they could get entangled in legal troubles.

Sharing the video, Delhi Police wrote, “Eggs & ‘Alcohol’ in the Metro? That’s not breakfast – that’s a Breach!! Break the rules, Face the consequences. Rules aren’t suggestions; they’re the law.”
