In a tragic incident, a 24-year-old woman died in a roller coaster accident at Fun N Food Water Park near Kapashera in South West Delhi on Thursday. According to reports, the victim, identified as Priyanka, was visiting the amusement park with her fiancé when the ride malfunctioned, leading to a fatal fall.

Priyanka was reportedly seated on a swing-like ride when she plummeted from a height after the stand broke. She was immediately rushed to the hospital in critical condition, where she succumbed to her injuries.

Priyanka got engaged to Nikhil in January 2023, and their wedding was scheduled for February next year. She wanted to secure financial independence before tying the knot, according to reports.

Priyanka, who worked as a sales manager at a private telecom company in Noida, had told her parents that she wanted to support her family before getting married.

The couple’s families supported postponing the wedding, with Priyanka’s relatives in Chanakyapuri and Nikhil’s family in Najafgarh both agreeing to the delay. Priyanka’s brother, Mohit, noted that the couple remained supportive of each other’s goals throughout their relationship.

According to police, Priyanka and Nikhil arrived at the amusement park around 1 pm on Thursday. They enjoyed the water attractions during the day before moving to the amusement section in the evening. At approximately 6:15 pm, they got on the roller coaster.

Nikhil told the police that a supporting structure failed when the ride reached its peak, causing Priyanka to fall. She sustained serious injuries, including a deep cut on her right leg, a puncture wound on her left leg, and additional injuries to her forearm and knee.

Police collected the medical report at the hospital and released Priyanka’s body to her family following a post-mortem examination. Authorities have filed an FIR under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections 289 (negligent conduct regarding machinery) and 106 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder by negligence), which recently replaced the corresponding sections in the former Indian Penal Code.

The management of Fun N Food Village has not yet commented on the incident or responded to media inquiries. The area of the park where the accident occurred has been closed.
