So, stand up and stretch frequently – take washroom breaks, get yourself a drink of water and take a walk around the office every hour. Make time for daily exercise.

4. Consuming alcohol in excess also increases belly fat. Alcohol is high in calories which can increase your appetite.

5. Weight gain can occur due to stress and hormonal imbalance. In fact, during stressful periods our adrenal glands release hormones such as adrenaline and cortisol. Due to this, fat starts accumulating in the body.

6. Lack of sleep also increases cortisol hormone which increases stress. Overeating also increases stress hormones. If you don’t sleep well, it affects the brain’s perception of healthy food, leading to unhealthy snacking and weight gain.
