Yograj Singh, father of former cricketer Yuvraj Singh, is once again in the headlines for his controversial statements. She made objectionable comments on women and their leadership abilities in an interview with YouTuber Samdish Bhatia, after which the Punjab State Women Commission has taken cognizance of the matter.
Yograj Singh said in the interview that the head of the house should always be a man and giving power to women can ruin things. Citing the example of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, he said that the country suffered losses under her leadership. He also commented that women should only be given love, respect and honor, but not power.
Taking this statement seriously, Punjab Women Commission Chairperson Raj Gill has said that the Commission will investigate the matter in depth and Yograj Singh will be interrogated. Yograj Singh’s statement has also evoked strong reactions on social media, where many people have termed it as anti-women and derogatory.
This controversial statement has not only exposed the prejudice against women, but has also strengthened the demand for strict action against Yograj Singh.
