I&B Secretary, Sanjay Jaju in race for Chief Secretary, Telangana?

About half-a-dozen names of senior officers are in discussion for the post of Chief Secretary in Telangana, but sources also claim that a dark horse may win the race, finally. Bureaucratic circle is abuzz that Union Information and Broadcasting Secretary Sanjay Jaju (IAS: 1992: TG) may return to Telangana as Chief Secretary (CS). The incumbent CS A Shanthi Kumari (IAS: 1989: TG) is retiring in April, 2025. Jaju is on central deputation since 2014 except for a brief tenure. At that time in 2022, he worked as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) at Telangana Bhawan.

Why is the list of ED stuck up?

If sources are to be believed the appointment list of Special Directors in ED has reportedly been held up. It is said that some officers in the list did not fulfill the required criteria and because the related ministry is not interested in forwarding the list to ACC. It is said that these names were reportedly included under political pressure.

Empanelment of senior IAS officer complicates selection of CS in Uttarakhand?

Senior IAS officer of 1992 cadre, Anand Bardhan has been empanelled for Secretary level posts in the Union Government and this has complicated the selection of the next Chief Secretary. Earlier when Radha Raturi was on leave, Anand Bardhan had officiated as the CS. Bardhan is being seen as the natural successor to her, but he has been empanelled as Secretary in the Union Government and hence the speculation. At present, he is the only IAS officer who holds eligibility in terms of having put in a minimum numbers of years in service to be promoted as CS. RK Sudhanshu, who is currently posted as Principal Secretary is another claimant. He is a 1997 batch IAS officer of Uttarakhand Cadre. However, currently he does not hold eligibility of having put in 30 years of service as IAS officer to be promoted as Chief Secretary.
