Lucknow, December 1: Over the past seven and a half years, the Yogi government has significantly enhanced Uttar Pradesh’s healthcare infrastructure, workforce, and facilities. Today, the state offers accessible, affordable, and high-quality medical treatment to people. Once labeled a ‘BIMARU’ state, Uttar Pradesh now stands as a model of health sector transformation.

Since coming to power in 2017, the Yogi government has undertaken historic initiatives to strengthen the state’s health infrastructure, leading to unprecedented expansion.

According to Dr. Pinky Jowal, Mission Director of the National Health Mission, continuous efforts are being made under CM Yogi’s leadership to strengthen the health sector.

She said, “Currently, over 352 Community Health Centers (CHCs) are equipped with First Referral Unit (FRU) facilities. Additionally, 72 health units now have solar-powered electricity, promoting environmental sustainability and energy alternatives.”

She added, “In the past year alone, more than 10,000 health sub-centres have been electrified, improving healthcare access in rural areas. Dialysis services have been launched in all districts, providing crucial support to kidney patients, while affordable CT scan facilities are now available in 74 districts, ensuring better diagnostic services across the state.”

A special campaign is underway to enhance the recognition of health service quality across Uttar Pradesh. As part of this initiative, more than 800 health units have received the National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) certification, a testament to the significant improvements in the state’s healthcare services. Additionally, the introduction of on-call private specialists and gynecologists has further elevated healthcare delivery in both rural and urban areas.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission, projects worth Rs 4,892 crore have been launched, including the construction of 515 block public health units, 75 district-level integrated public health labs, and 74 critical care hospital blocks.

Furthermore, work has commenced on 2,100 of the 2,334 planned projects, with 1,321 already completed. Among 1,670 building construction projects, 1,173 have been finalized.

These initiatives have upgraded healthcare services and made quality, affordable treatment accessible to the public. The availability of specialist doctors has become more convenient for patients, improving overall health access.

Through these transformative measures, the Yogi government has successfully shifted Uttar Pradesh from being a ‘Bimaru state’ to a ‘healthy state.’ The people of the state now benefit from accessible, affordable, and high-quality health services, which have contributed to the state’s development and set a benchmark for other states to follow.
