Yamunanagar, 19 November (Hindustan Reporter). The villagers got angry over the use of substandard material on the under-construction road going from town Bilaspur to village Ramkhedi and they stopped the ongoing work there. The villagers allege that action should be taken against the contractor who did not put tar on the road and did shoddy work and the road should be rebuilt.
Giving more information on Tuesday, the villagers of Ramkhedi village said that no care was taken at all about the quality while building this road. Nor has the right amount of tar been put on the road. The gravel is completely spread over the road. People can become victims of accidents due to slipping of school buses and other vehicles of children coming to the village. Apart from this, this road will completely break after being used in a short time. There is sheer negligence of the department in this and collusion with the contractors.
He said that we will stop the work on this road and will not allow the work to continue until the department builds the road with the right quality. He said that the work on this road is being done at night without the supervision of any department official. He said that if the road is not constructed as per the quality and is not guaranteed then we will not allow the road to be constructed.
On this occasion, the sub-divisional officer of the department, Karmaveer, said that in the winter season, the grip of coal tar on gravel reduces. We have stopped all road construction works due to cold weather and this road will be rebuilt. He said that if negligence of the contractor comes to light then departmental action will be taken against him also.
