A historic plan has been prepared to overcome the water crisis in Rajasthan and provide better irrigation facilities. Yamuna water will come from a distance of 263 kilometers

under the plan Tajwala Head Yamuna river water will be brought to Rajasthan through three different pipelines.

  • Total length of pipeline: 263 kilometers
  • Total Cost: Rs 5,000 crore more than initial estimate Rs 25,000 crore
  • Major Structure: One at Hathini Kund Barrage intake pump house Will be built, which will reduce dependence on Haryana for water supply.

These districts will get benefits

Mainly from Yamuna Water Project three districts of Rajasthan Will benefit from:

  • jhunjhunu
  • Sikar
  • Churu

Along with irrigation, drinking water supply will also be ensured in these districts, which will directly benefit the farmers and local people.

Objective and phased implementation of the project

this plan two stages Will be completed in:

First Step:

  • In Churu, Sikar, Jhunjhunu and other parts of Rajasthan. drinking water provide.
  • To overcome water crisis in these districts.

Second step:

  • in Churu district 35,000 hectares Irrigation of land.
  • in Jhunjhunu district 70,000 hectares Irrigation of land.
  • Focus on increasing agricultural production and increasing farmers’ income.

Plan accelerated after Delhi meeting

To implement this project recently Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. in Delhi. Patil A meeting was held under the chairmanship of. The Chief Ministers of Rajasthan and Haryana participated in it. After the meeting the plan has been further accelerated.

New reservoirs will be built for storage

To store water under the project new reservoir Will be created:

  • Main Reservoir: of Churu district Hansiyawas In.
  • Second Reservoir: of Jhunjhunu district Buhana Tehsil In.
  • Water will be stored in these reservoirs and irrigation and drinking water will be supplied as per need.
