‘Pune Airport Is In Shambles’: X User Highlights Passenger Apathy, Urges Murlidhar Mohol To Prioritise Action | File Photo

Pune International Airport (PNQ) is often in the news for the wrong reasons. From delayed flights to unhelpful ground staff to unhygienic food served at the lounge, passengers have complained umpteen times. On Thursday, an X (formerly Twitter) user took to the microblogging site to complain about the situation in Aeromall at the airport.

Narrating the incident he encountered, he wrote, “PNQ’s apathy continues despite so many complaints from passengers. Just arrived at PNQ and here is my list of observations: 1. The escalator to Aeromall not working. Only 1 small lift which had a long queue. Everyone with multiple or large bags struggled to walk up. 2. Lifts within Aeromall not working. Since the cab operations have been split across floors, everyone had to use the stairs.”

He added, “3. No lights on the stairs. People were juggling between using their mobile lights, carrying bags and some carrying their young kids. 4. Lights were on & off in the cab pickup area as well. Absolute chaos. 5. Auto and cab drivers continue to solicit passengers throughout the path from arrivals to Aeromall, and some do it even inside the Aeromall.”

The X user further urged Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol to take action. “I am sorry but Civil Aviation or Pune Airport authorities are not taking this one bit seriously. @mohol_murlidhar request you to take this up on priority. Pune airport is in shambles,” he added.

Commenting on his post, another user wrote, “The old joke that by 2025, instead of bus stands becoming as clean & user friendly as airports, the opposite has happened holds true with Pune airport (although Swagate bus stand is proving to be a formidable competitor) Despite its shiny new terminal, Pune Airport is still stuck in an ‘it’s complicated’ phase.”

“You forgot to mention about continuous honking stupid cabbies do, making it an irritating place to be,” another user wrote.
