Actress Sujata Mehta rose to fame with the 1987 film Pratighaat, a remake of the Telugu film Pratighatana. Later, she featured in several Hindi movies including Kanwarlal, Aaj Kie Aurat, Gunaah, Rishta Ho To Aisa, Hum Sab Chor Hain, and Hulchul, among others. Recently opened up about her bond with co-star, Tabu’s elder sister Farah Naaz and made some shocking revelations about her.
Speaking to Pinkvilla’s Hindi Rush, Sujata said, “Farah (Naaz) was very good to me. Humara kaafi acha communication tha. I would see marks on her hand; she would abuse herself a lot, possibly out of frustration. One day, I asked her, ‘Farah, yeh kya hai yaar?’ but she didn’t respond. So, I felt like an interference. Uski kuch personal life ka hoga, mujhe malum nahi.”
Sujata Mehta and Farah Naaz shared screen space in the 1988 film Yateem, alongside Sunny Deol, and the 1993 film Dhartiputra, which featured Mammootty, Rishi Kapoor, and Jaya Prada.
Earlier, in a 1988 interview with Filmfare, Farah was questioned about self-harming by cutting her wrists twice. To this, she said that not just twice, but she did it multiple times.
“I am not doing this to kill myself. No one dies by cutting their wrists. I know my family won’t let me die. But it’s like whenever my mom or my sister (Tabu) or Rajesh (Farah’s boyfriend at that time) says something to me that I can’t stand, I do it. Trust me I have no idea what I’m doing or where I’m getting the blade from. And it doesn’t hurt as much when I cut my vein,” she added.
Further, Farah stated that by self-harming, she was diverting her attention from the problem, which was bothering her. “This is my way of annoying them. They won’t know if I kill myself, but whenever they see my wounds like this, they will know that they hurt me,” she said.
