As a result, ruralization is increasing compared to urbanization. According to a report by Systematics Institutional Equities, this has increased the demand for food items. Urban supply has declined and food inflation persists.
Number of migrants reduced by five lakh in 12 years
Citing data from the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council, the report said, ‘There has been a decline in the number of domestic tourists within the country. 5370 crore in 2023, which shows a decline of 11.8 percent from 2011 levels. It is reported that the migration rate has also decreased from 37.6 percent in 2011 to 28.9 percent in 2023. According to the report, in 2011 the number of people moving from rural to urban areas for employment or business was 4.5 crores, which has reduced by five lakhs to 4.0 crores at present.
