These famous celebrities have died due to TB
From India’s great mathematician Srinivas Ramanujan to Kamala Nehru, there is a long list of famous people dying of TB. Satyajit Ray, Premchand, Subhadra Kumari Chauhan, Nandlal Bose and Vishnudas Bhatt died due to TB. Film director and writer Satyajit Ray died of TB in 1992, while Premchand, the great writer of Hindi literature, died in 1936. In 1948, freedom fighter and poetess Subhadra Kumari Chauhan died of TB. Famous painter Nandlal Bose died of TB in 1982 and famous composer Vishnudas Bhatt died in 1965.
India is moving towards being TB free
India is also moving rapidly towards becoming TB free. India’s dedicated visit towards TB eradication has been recognized globally, with a decrease of 17.7 percent in TB cases from 2015 to 2023. This rate is double the global average decline by 8.3 percent. The World Health Organization revealed this in the Global TB report 2024. The National Tuberculosis Eradication Program (NTEP) of the Government of India is a milestone, which is helping to achieve the ambitious goal of eliminating TB from the country by 2025.
