Estonia’s power grid operators have suffered a major setback. Recently, Estlink 2 power cable connecting Finland and Estonia suddenly deteriorated. This led to a huge reduction in the power supply of Estonia and caused heavy damage. After this, the government is now preparing to take many tough decisions. Due to which ships coming out of here may have to pay shipping tax.

This information has been given by the Astonian Minister. He said that Baltic Sea Shipping Tax may have to be paid to protect the cable under the sea. Taxes will be charged from shipping companies to cover the high cost of securing submarine cables. The Baltic Sea is one of the world’s busiest shipping lane. Till now there was no separate charge for the transit here, but in the coming days, there will be charge for shipping here.

Increased cases of loss

Astonian Defense Minister Hano Pavakur said on Wednesday that several cases of suspected barbarity and damage have been reported. Apart from the problem of traffic jam, the cable has also suffered a lot of damage. Due to which frigate, patrol aircraft and drones will be deployed here from now on. Recently there was suspected vandalism and damage in electricity and communication cables. After which this decision has been taken.

Cables will be safe and strong

Defense Minister Hano Peevakur said that the country is considering other measures to protect cables. These include detecting anchors drawn on the sea surface or installing sensors to build walls around the cables. Doing this will cost a lot of money, which will now cost passers -by.

Excessive traffic causes cables to deteriorate

According to the UK -based International Cable Security Committee, globally, about 150C cables are damaged every year. According to some estimates, telecom cables, power lines and gas pipelines are considered particularly insecure due to heavy traffic. Where about 4000 ships pass through its surface every day.

A ship seized

In connection with the damage to the cable running between Latvia and Sweden, Swedish officials on Monday seized a ship-ridden ship. This affected the power and telecom lines running between Estonia and Finland. There have been 4 such incidents in a year from this ship.
