A woman named Himanshi Gaba from Haryana recently took to LinkedIn to share her bizarre experience after her sister’s phone got stolen. Expressing her frustration with the Haryana Police, she recounted how she accompanied her sister to the nearest police station to file a report, but the experience that followed made her question the police’s handling of such incidents.
“Dearest Haryana Police, Thieves are more cooperative than you guys,” she wrote on LinkedIn.
Gaba alleged that instead of tracking her phone, the officers at the station began their investigation by asking dismissive questions to her sister. She also added that the cops asked her to be more cautious with her phone.
“When we informed them that we had been tracking the phone and it was nearby, the officer responded, ‘Then go and get it yourself’,” Gaba claimed in her post.
Adding that the thief turned out to be more “cooperative” than the cops, Gaba went on to share, “Fortunately the thief was very cooperative and reached out to us and said he would give the phone back to us in return for some money. And it was very smooth coordination between the thief and us and finally, we got our phone back.”
She concluded her post with a sharp remark, “So what actually the policeman wanted to say: ‘Chor to Chori karega hi tum kyun apna phone lekar bahar nikal rahe ho. (A thief will steal; why are you carrying your phone outside?)’”
