Pune Crime: Woman Robbed Of Gold Ornaments Worth ₹5.46 Lakh After Female Friend Spikes Coffee With Sleeping Drug | FPJ Photo
A shocking incident of robbery has come to light from the Bharati Vidyapeeth Police Station jurisdiction in which a 25-year-old woman robbed gold ornaments worth ₹5.46 lakh of her female friend after spiking her coffee with a sleeping drug, officials said on Friday.
The incident took place on March 26 at Nirman Viva Society near Sinhagad College Road, Ambegaon Budruk. Regarding the matter, a case was registered on April 3, they added.
The accused has been identified as Aishwarya Sanjay Garad (25), a resident of Ambegaon Pathar.
According to the police, the 31-year-old complainant and accused Garad are known to each other for the last four years. In 2021, Garad and the victim were roommates in the Sadashiv Peth area of the city while they were studying. However, they separated after the victim’s marriage.
“On March 26, Garad came to meet the victim at her home in Ambegaon. She carried a parcel of coffee for her. After consuming the coffee, the victim fell unconscious. Taking advantage of the situation, Garad stole gold ornaments worth ₹5.46 lakh kept in the almirah and fled away,” the police said.
Speaking to The Free Press Journal, Police Sub Inspector Vishwas Bhabad, said, “At the time of the incident, the victim was alone at home. Her husband had gone for his job. We have arrested the accused. The matter is under investigation and action will be taken accordingly.”
Regarding the matter, a case has been registered at the Bharati Vidyapeeth Police Station under sections 305 and 123 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
