Woman Returns Home 18 Months After Presumed Dead, Reveals Shocking Details | X/@thefamilygyan

Mandsaur: Similar to the plot of a masala Bollywood movie, a woman, who was presumed to be dead, returned home after 18 months in Madhya Pradesh’s Mandsaur. However, the four men arrested on the charges of her murder are still in custody, reported News 18.

The 35-year-old woman, Lalita Bai, is a resident of Navali village. She reportedly went missing in September 2023. Her family filed a missing complaint at the Gandhi Sagar police station.

As per the News18 report, Lalita’s relatives identified a body with its head crushed and then performed her last rites. Four suspects were arrested by the police in connection with the case.

“After we had filed the missing person report, Thandla police informed us about the recovery of a woman’s body with her head crushed. We went there and identified it as the body of our daughter based on a tattoo and a black string tied around her leg,” Lalita’s father, Nanuram Banchhada said as quoted by PTI. “We performed the last rites as well,” he added.

After returning home, the 35-year-old woman made some shocking revelations. She told her family that she left home on her own with a man named Shahrukh in September 2023 and travelled to Bhajanpur. Lalita then revealed that Shahrukg sold her for Rs 5 lakh to another man also named Shahrukh and she was unaware of what was happening to her.

She was taken to Rajasthan’s Kota by the man to whom she was sold. As per Lalita, she stayed with him for almost 18 months and waited for the right opportunity to escape. She finally managed to escape.

“As soon as I got the opportunity, I ran away and came back. I don’t have a mobile phone, so I was unable to contact my family members,” Lalita told police as reported by PTI.

Police immediately swung into action and arrested the four men who lured Lalita. The police will now conduct a medical examination and DNA test of the woman to confirm her identity.

“We will first conduct a medical examination and DNA test of the woman, and also record fresh statements from witnesses,” Jhabua SP Padmavilochan Shukla told PTI. The police office further added that only after these medical examinations, the police will be able to confirm that the woman who returned is Lalita Bai, the one who was believed to have been killed.
