A woman detained an eight-year-old girl for two days in her house. The woman allegedly kidnapped the girl for human sacrifice. However, no firm evidence of human sacrifice has been unveiled, and the police are further investigating the case.
An eight-year-old girl from Paranda village in Kandhar taluka in Nanded district went missing on January 20. She had gone to school but did not return home. Her family members and relatives searched for her everywhere and finally found her after two days. A 55-year-old woman, Shobhabai Gaikwad, from the same village, had kept the girl in her house for two days. The victim’s parents lodged a complaint with the Malakoli police station regarding the incident.
The police searched Shobhabai’s house and arrested Shobhabai, her husband Sheshrao Gaikwad, and her son Chandrakant Gaikwad. In the initial investigation, it is suspected that the girl was kidnapped with the intention of human sacrifice, and the police are investigating in this direction.
Recently, a probable human sacrifice case has come to light from a village in Satara district. The crime unfolded on Friday afternoon in Phaltan’s Vidani village, where a woman’s body was discovered in a sugarcane field.
The body, with its head severed from the torso, has raised suspicions of a ritualistic killing, possibly linked to superstition.
Alongside the body, several ritualistic items were found at the site, including lemon, chilli, coconut, gulal (coloured powder), and a black doll. Additionally, the woman’s severed hair and a knife were recovered from the area. These items have led investigators to suspect the possibility of a human sacrifice, though this theory is yet to be confirmed.
