Sonkatch (Madhya Pradesh): A man and a woman were injured after being hit by Chinese ‘manjha’ near Pragati Nagar on Dewas-Bhopal State Highway in Sonkatch on Monday evening, a police official said. The victim identified as Moolchand, suffered a 13 to 15 cm deep wound on his head caused by Chinese Manjha.
His wife, Purnima (56) was also injured due to fall from their bike. The couple was travelling from Sehore to Dewas when a nylon string unexpectedly struck Moolchand’s head, prompting immediate assistance from bystanders who flagged down a passing ambulance.
Emergency Medical Technician Rahul Parmar and pilot Ajay Patel provided swift care, transporting the injured to the civil hospital, where they received first-aid before being referred to Dewas MG Hospital for surgery. Despite a prohibitory order against the sale of deadly nylon strings, local authorities have struggled to find sources of Chinese manjha.
Police checks have yielded no results, as shopkeepers reportedly sell these strings covertly, often disguised as other products. Shyamchand Sharma, TI Sonkatch and Priyanka Mimrot, SDM Sonkatch have vowed to enhance monitoring and take action against illegal sales as Makar Sankranti approaches.
