Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The state government has introduced a new winter vacation schedule from 2023-2024 academic session, leading to variation in holiday schedules for schools across the state.
The change, implemented last year, will be followed in the 2024-2025 academic session as well. The new schedule has created a noticeable divide in vacation dates between government and private schools, including those affiliated with MP Board and the CBSE.
The new calendar has created overlapping and consecutive breaks, with missionary school vacations concluding just as government school holidays begin.
Under the new directive issued on December 18, 2023 by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, winter holidays for most schools have been scheduled from January 1 to January 4, 2024.
However, some missionary schools, including Campion School in Bhopal and St Joseph’s Convent School, have opted to follow their traditional holiday schedules.
Campion School will remain closed from December 21 to January 1, while St. Joseph’s Convent School will observe holidays from December 24 to January 1. In contrast, government schools like Subhash Excellence School will begin their holidays only after December 31, in compliance with the revised schedule.
